INDIVIDUAL TASKS
Exercise 1
According to the requirements of "092024 Games Studies Brief 23092024.pdf" in the INSTRUCTIONS above...
I need to pick a favorite video game to research? And then I need to explore its playability.
Then, as early as the 3rd week of class, I found some students who had completed Exercise 1 in this table(this table was added later. At that time, there were not so many students filling it out) that Mr. Charles sent (although it was not the online student table on my course schedule).

And I was infected with influenza B at the time, so I asked Mr. Charles if I could have someone else record the video for me (my throat was inflamed and I couldn't speak) and I typed the subtitles into the video myself.
Mr. Charles told me not to rush, this exercise will only be checked in the 7th week.

Then in the 5th? or 6th? week of class, I asked Mr. Charles if Exercise 1 and Exercise 2 could be unrelated, and he said absolutely.
So...I chose this game as the research object for this exercise

Then here ↓ is my proposal for Exercise 1.

Submission:

Exercise 2
In the fifth week? or sixth week? of class, I asked Mr. Charles if we could make a proposal for a game company instead of a game maker.
He asked me, "Which game company do you want to work for?" I said, "I want to work for miHoYo." Then he told me, "MiHoYo is too famous and many students will want to work for it (this is my guess). There will be too much overlap so it will be difficult to do it."
https://www.mihoyo.com/en/
Then he recommended two games he was watching to me, the first one was this↓

He said, "Look, this game shows your Chinese history and culture."(That's probably what it means

After class, I went home and searched for the game online, and then looked for the creator or company behind it.
I initially thought this game was made by a game company called "THERMITEGAMES"...

But later, whether I looked up the company's information or discovered carefully, this company is a publisher, not a producer. In other words, this company does not create games but helps game producers to publish the games they make.
So I locked my view on the previous one, which is "FireWo Games".
It turns out that this game company had not made any other games before this one.

So I rejected this one without reservation. Then the second game recommended by Mr. Charles is the following↓one.

Black Myth: Wukong video reference I watched the following 3...Uh, to be precise, it is about the development team behind this game "Game Science".
GROUP TASKS
Tabletop game prototype
2024.09.25,Our group has set up a discussion group on WhatsApp, Group Link: https://chat.whatsapp.com/FWWvoZNCwnw5SLvenaRQRr
The team leader is Junjie, the remaining members are Shawn Wong Kai Hen, TEE JIA ERN,JIN RONG,ZHANG HANYUAN and me. Of course, the group members are also divided according to this ↓ table.
2024.10.05, a meeting was held that afternoon to discuss.

One more thing to add is a PPT,
that is this↓.
Game Studies Proposal Ditto, Author: Jun Jie
2024.10.15,the team leader asked us to make a slide based on this.
Then the following ↓ slide is from our group or another group?
GameStudies,Author: rong jin

I forgot. Oh, it was done by our group.
The next day(there may be a week's error in time), our group played a card game in class.

2024.10.20-2424.10.21, The team leader assigned tasks to each of us. My task is to design prototypes.
So...the two ↓ below are the prototypes I made on 2024.10.21.
2024.10.23,our team members played the game based on the game prototype I designed.
After playing, we found some problems and the team leader sent a message in the group...
2024.10.26, our team decided on the design style of the game cards.
2024.12.27,the team leader asked us (including me) to make a card design indicator.

After a night of discussion between Jin Rong and I, we did the following↓.
GAME SKETCHES, Author: YANG HANWEN

2024.11.26,our team leader got Playtest Form.
2024.11.27,our team leader has updated PlayTest_Form.
2024.12.18,the team leader sent me Final_TestPrint and asked me to print it out,
that is the following ↓ file.
Then in class that day, I finished cutting Final_TestPrint.
So... the next part is the extra work that the team leader asked me to do.
2024.12.24,the team leader asked me to help print (including cutting) the document he sent and then take a photo and send it to him.

2024.12.25,the team leader asked me to make an infographic.

2024.12.26 - 2024.12.29, after the team leader and I worked hard...

Oh, one more thing. At this time, the team leader finally collected all the user data.

I finished the infographic...
and sent it to the group.

Then on December 31, 2024, the team leader asked me to change it (but I was already on my way back to China at that time).

However, I still based on this document given by the team leader on January 3, 2025.

The following is the file after I modified it once.
Then I sent it ↑ to the team leader.
Then the team leader said that the file I made was not feasible (I really wanted to fxxk...) but in the end the team leader decided to do the design himself and I just made a summary in the end.
So I ended up making this ↑ and sent ↓ it to him.

Peer assessments
In the 16th week, Dr. Charles released the physical work submission date and classroom location in the group.
At the same time, he urged us to fill in our scores in this form as soon as possible.
Since Dr. Charles said that this "Peer Assessment" is optional, I don't need to continue writing this.
FEEDBACK
Week 3
I asked Mr. Charles about the speech video for my personal assignment. I asked if I could have someone else dub the video and add subtitles to it. This was an alternative to my throat being sore and I couldn't speak in the video. He said there was no rush to do this and I didn't need to worry.

Week 6
I asked Mr. Charles about the difference between Task 2 and Task 1. He told me to check the MIB outline file. After I checked it, I asked again about some issues between game companies or game developers that I need to do for Personal Task 2. He gave me some answers. I answered them one by one, and then I finally asked if I could not show my face in the lecture video. He asked me why at first, and then I showed him a video link where some students did not show their faces. He looked at those students and looked at me with a confused look on my face. With a pleading look in his eyes, he said to me, "Okay, it's okay."

Week 9
At that time, I was busy supplementing the blog. Before he left, I showed him the production team of this game that I chose "Black Myth: Wukong" in Mission 2 because the first game was not released and the production team behind it is here. There wasn't a game that had been released before and he was like, "Oh, okay, okay, I'll check it out, I'll look at it later."

Week 10
I asked Mr. Charles about the two personal tasks I submitted at that time. After looking at them, he said, "I checked them all, they are good." Finally, I asked him if there were any other personal tasks besides these two. He said no, there were only these two personal tasks. The only other tasks were group tasks.

Week 13-17
Because the 14th week of classes coincides with the Christmas holiday and the 15th week of classes coincides with the New Year holiday. So...in the thirteenth week, I asked Mr. Charles if it was the last class. He told me it might be. I said I was not in Malaysia during the New Year holiday but in China. He told me that the last class time notified would be fine as long as other members of my group came.

In week 17, I asked Mr. Charles if the link to "Peer Assessment" was the "grade sheet" (By the way, in the last class, I checked my personal blog post with Mr. Charles and he told me that he would When Mr. Charles sent me the link to the Peer Assessment, he said it was optional, so I should be done after completing the group activity items and filling in my own grades.

REFLECTION

Experience
In the process of developing the game content, the team members had different understandings, views, and positioning of the game, so we were not sure about the detailed process at the beginning. However, in the end, with the consent of the team leader and the majority, we decided to design a Trading Card Game based on the FPS game "Counter-Strike".

Observations

At the beginning of the project, I was responsible for "prototype printing and cutting". Of course, I also helped to supplement the content that the team leader needed to add on the PPT and infographic. In general, I was doing the logistics work. I even helped with some things that I was not good at.

Findings

I am not the one who contributes the most in the whole team. However, through the group cooperation and learning in this module, I found that unity is very important for a group, no matter whether it is a difficult or simple project. No matter how difficult the project is, as long as the team members are willing to contribute, it will definitely be completed. Vice versa, a simple project will also be difficult to complete well if the team members are not united.
