REFLECTION
Experience
During the proposal phase of the project, we were encouraged to delve into a specific topic or area of interest. There were experts from different fields who presented their knowledge in their fields to us, which helped us determine which topic we were more interested in, especially in relation to game-related investigations. Once the topic was chosen, the next steps included setting specific research questions, research objectives, and detailed research methods. When I first approached this part, I felt a little lost because the question I initially proposed was too broad. Fortunately, after adjustments, this question eventually became the basis for a research report on the topic of games. Therefore, when I initially planned the research topic, I was clear about the specific research question and the direction of exploration. Due to time constraints, I was unable to collect all the data I needed. As a result, I only surveyed 80 participants and conducted in-depth interviews with two or three people. Fortunately, even so, I still came up with many valuable findings.
Observations
I had a lot of fun exploring topics I was passionate about, and had the opportunity to pick up almost any research topic that interested me. This allowed me to explore resources that were not limited to the internet, but also information that could be obtained through surveys and interviews. However, completing all of the data collection within the time constraints of the assignment was challenging. As a result, I ended up surveying only 80 participants and completing a few in-depth interviews. Fortunately, even so, I was able to draw many insightful conclusions.
Findings
I was amazed at how much a simple visual element or layout design in a game can reveal about a character. The responses from the participants in the survey were exactly what I expected. It was surprising to me how closely visual elements are linked to player perception. I was also interested in the diversity of opinions expressed by the many respondents. Our interests vary widely and we all touch on different aspects of design, especially in terms of visual aesthetics.Document Links / Folder
