Task 3 / Design

TASK 3 BRIEF

Description and Summary

After analysing the design of the choice in Task 2, create a work of design inspired by it. Applying design principles, using suitable mediums to convey the visual message, and not using direct photographs. Plagiarised work results in an F grade and university policy violations.

The e-portfolio should showcase all completed work for the module, along with a final reflection, and be discussed and demonstrated to the lecturer during class.

SKETCHES &  WORK PROGRES
I used the above visual reference cases to sitch together a sketch in Adobe Illustrator. The gentleman said that he liked my design idea and continue. Then I explained to him that my painting skills are not good. Can I use some artificial intelligence functions to synthesize some materials? The gentleman said Allow me to use artificial intelligence functions in 20% of my designs.

So I first used the sky, ocean and plastic bag mountain as the background of this poster in Adobe Photoshop and used the content-aware fill function in Adobe Photoshop.

After that, I put the background generated in Adobe Photoshop into Adobe Illustrator and then traced the image.
So the following picture is the background I used in this design.

The following are the visual effects I want to express in Adobe Photoshop & Adobe Illustrator, as well as screenshots of the poster production process.

Except for the background and turtle materials, which were generated with AI, half of the hermit crab was created with AI and the other half was pieced together by me.
The rest was drawn with the pen tool and then colored with a paint bucket.

FINAL DESIGN

The ocean under white pollution

RATIONALE
In approximately 150-200 words, explain the decisions made in your design, the meaning/purpose of the design, and the design principles underlying the design.

This painting presents a scene related to ocean pollution. Here is a description of this design:

1. Background: This design shows a giant iceberg floating on the water, possibly at the North or South Pole, suggesting the phenomenon of melting glaciers. There are plastic bags under the iceberg, which symbolizes the problem of ocean pollution. Plastic bags cause huge harm to marine life, so this painting calls attention to and solves the serious threat of plastic pollution to marine ecosystems.

2. Water surface: There are various kinds of garbage floating on the water surface, such as plastic bags, bottles and other plastic waste. These items may represent pollution of the ocean caused by human activities.

3. Organisms: In this polluted water, we can see a variety of organisms. The most obvious one is a large fish with its mouth open as if it is swallowing a red object, which may be another plastic bag or other garbage. In addition, there is a sea turtle, which seems to be swimming hard. The turtle may be looking for food or escaping pollution.

4. Other elements: At the bottom of the picture, there is an open umbrella with two small fish underneath. This may symbolize the tenacity of life to survive even in a polluted environment.

5. Color and style: The entire picture is dominated by cold tones, with blue and gray taking up most of it, which is consistent with the colors of icebergs and seawater. At the same time, the creatures and objects in the picture have an exaggerated cartoon style, making the picture more vivid and fascinating.

Overall, this painting strongly expresses the impact of marine pollution on the ecological environment and organisms through exaggerated artistic techniques. Every detail in the picture reminds us to pay attention to environmental issues and protect our earth home.
